By far the most common type of is simply called asphalt shingles, and the most common type among those is the cost effective 3-Tab, or the tier above that referred to as the Architectural. This roof type can last as 15-25 years depending on the quality of the material, and also the amount of temperature endurance a region has.  Extreme heat and cold and especially the fluxuation between the two can shorten the lifespan of a roof, as well as extreme moisture and humidity over long courses of time.  For the most part however, this is an affordable and very durable type of roofing that is used across our great country, and among the most common building materials of all time. While most homes use asphalt shingle, the choices do not stop there, as there are a myriad of other types.  Here’s a list of some of them:

TPO, Metal, Aluminum, Corrugated Steel, Rubber, Concrete, Asphalt Fiberglass, Clay, Steel, Standing Seam Metal, Solar, Copper.  These all range in pricing, from similar to asphalt shingle to three to four… even 15 times more such as the case of solar, copper, or other metals!  Every roofing type has its place, and the cost is usually relevant to how long you plan to own your home or building, and how much money you want to invest in the building in order to not have worry about it for many decades.  There is an option for everyone, and when in doubt, a cost-effective asphalt is usually the way to go.  If you want really make a property pop, or impress the neighbors to no end, then you can go wrong with wood or clay shingles, or even a copper top.  There are so many options, all of which are possible and can be made affordable with financing.
